Delete your Merryl account

No longer have the app, or prefer to do it here? Type your account's e-mail address: you get the same confirmation link as from the app. Nothing is deleted until you confirm.

You can also do it in the app: Profile, "Account and settings" menu, Settings, "Delete my account".

What happens next

1. If this address belongs to a Merryl account, an e-mail asking you to confirm the deletion arrives there within a few minutes. This page gives the same answer for every address: it tells no one who has an account.
2. The link in the e-mail works for 1 hour, once. It opens a page that names your account: nothing is deleted until you choose “Delete for good” there.
3. The deletion starts at once: the app signs you out, and connected apps such as ChatGPT lose their access. It is done within a few minutes, 72 hours at most, and an e-mail confirms it.

What is erased

Your account and everything attached to it: your profile (handle, name, bio, avatar), your preferences and tastes, your recipes (private ones too) and their photos, your dishes, your comments, your reviews and likes, your week, your shopping lists, your favorites and history, your follows and blocks, your reports, your usage statistics and the access given to connected apps.

Remixes other members made of your recipes keep their text, without a link to yours. Nothing that is erased can be recovered.

What remains, and for how long

• the cost of artificial intelligence calls, without your identifier;
• the log of the team's decisions (moderation, suspension), with your account's technical identifier, to meet our legal obligations and defend our rights;
• the subscription's billing records sent by the stores: 13 months;
• database backups, which erase themselves after six months at most;
• technical logs: 14 days;
• deleted files, kept 30 days by the storage before they are erased.

Before you delete

• Merryl+: deleting your account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it in Google Play.
• Your data: if you still have the app, export it first (Settings, "Export my data").
• Without signing up: if you used Merryl without an account, there is no address to confirm. What you did is erased after 90 days without opening the app.
